The ETMC Sleep Disorders Center in Pittsburg recently received program re-accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) for a period of five years for meeting or exceeding all standards by AASM.
“In order to become accredited sleep centers must comply with the AASM standards for accreditation, the gold standard for patient care in the sleep medicine field,” said Dr. David Jones, medical director of the sleep lab. “We are very pleased to receive this recognition again.
AASM Accreditation of Sleep Disorders Centers is a voluntary process for the assessment of sleep programs. By achieving accreditation, a sleep center demonstrates a commitment to the provision of quality diagnostic services.
The AASM currently accredits more than 2,500 sleep medicine centers across the country. The AASM is a professional medical society for clinicians, researchers, and other healthcare providers in the field of sleep medicine. The AASM is dedicated to setting standards and promoting excellence in sleep medicine heath care, education and research.
