ETMC Carthage emergency center

Choose ETMC Carthage for 24/7 emergency and trauma services

Seeing that patients are treated in a fast, efficient and effective way is our top priority at ETMC Carthage emergency care. Our extra training to become a Level IV trauma center helps make this possible – as does our desire to provide excellent care for our friends and neighbors in Panola County.

We’re certified as a Level IV trauma center by the state of Texas because of our ability to deliver advanced trauma life support (ATLS). This includes rapid evaluation, stabilization and diagnostic capabilities for sick and injured patients, along with the ability to stabilize and then transfer them to a higher level of trauma care, if necessary.

“I’ve personally witnessed more than one person who wouldn’t be here today had we not been here to give them lifesaving treatment and get them to the higher level of care they needed.”
– Shelbea Comer, RN, emergency department manager and trauma coordinator

At ETMC Carthage, nearly all of our emergency and trauma team members are from the area. According to department manager Shelbea Comer, RN, “We’re personally invested in taking care of our family, friends and neighbors here. This means you’ll get that personal touch here that you may not always find at a larger facility.”

Comer also said that ongoing performance evaluations help elevate the level of care in the emergency department and trauma center. ETMC Carthage is continually monitoring emergency protocols, turnaround times and patient outcomes with the goal of doing the best we possibly can for the people of Panola County.
