We advocate for our patients

At ETMC Athens our case manager and patient advocate work on your behalf. They keep you and your family informed during and after your hospital stay. They’re involved with discharge planning and follow-up calls to see that you have the medicines, support and equipment needed for a good outcome. They interface with insurance companies to see that services are covered and with community agencies to find solutions to your problems.

“We make great community connections for meals, transportation and home medical equipment. We work with pharmacies to find lower cost options and with nursing homes to find places for people who aren’t ready to go home safely. Doing what’s best for our patients is on our minds every step of the way.”
– Lesa Ooten, RN, case management director

“We don’t only care about your welfare while you’re here in one of our hospital beds. We care just as much for you once you go home.”
– Sherry Martin, RN, patient advocate, call-back nurse
