ETMC volunteers, past and present, believe in being a blessing to hospital patients, guests, employees and physicians. This long-standing philosophy has been instilled in hundreds of ETMC volunteers over more than 60 years.
ETMC hospitals throughout the region sponsor volunteer teams that contribute greatly to the healing environment and customer service. Unlike the first “women’s auxiliary” volunteers, today’s groups are well-represented by both women and men. ETMC Tyler also hosts an outstanding Junior Volunteer summer program for high school students.
One of the charter members (1951) of the ETMC Tyler volunteer team, Edna Greenberg is still remembered for her incredible spirit of giving. In tribute to their mother, her three daughters commissioned a special tapestry by Helen Weber honoring ETMC volunteers, with the title “How Healing Are The Hands That Help.” That message lives on today, as ETMC volunteers brighten days, share joys and sorrows and overall assist all who enter the doors of an ETMC hospital.
Did you know volunteering can keep you healthy? Studies show giving to others benefits you as well. ETMC Hospitals throughout the region sponsor volunteer teams that contribute greatly to the healing environment and customer service.
