New Choices Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program

Helping people confront and conquer chemical illness.

The social drinker whose alcohol use is getting out of hand; factory workers who take ever-increasing amounts of pain medication; seniors who become dependent on prescription tranquilizers; adolescents who "experiment" with so-called recreational drugs. The face of chemical dependency can be any face, because anyone who uses a potentially addictive drug is a potential addict.

Symptoms of this illness include:

  • Inability to predict whether or not you will use drugs or get drunk
  • The need to drink or use drugs in order to have fun or "wind down"
  • Drinking or using drugs alone
  • The need to increase use in order to get the same effect you used to get with smaller amounts
  • Remembering how last night began, but not how it ended
  • Having trouble at work, school or in relationships because of drinking or drug use
  • Making promises to yourself or to others that you will "cut down" or stop getting drunk/using drugs.
  • Feeling alone, scared, miserable or depressed.

If you are seeing these symptoms in yourself or someone you love, the ETMC Behavioral Health Center can help.

A free assessment is a confidential phone call away. To schedule an assessment or answer your questions, call 903-266-2200. Physician, family and self-referrals are welcome.
