Born in the heart of the 20th Century
Established at the mid-point of the past century, Panola General Hospital enjoyed a proud history of service to the people of the oil-rich area for many years. When it came time to upgrade and expand, the hospital looked to ETMC in 1997 and became ETMC Carthage.
Since that time, we have invested millions in facility and equipment upgrades — the construction of physician offices, the addition of an MRI, digital mammography and 64-slice CT scanner, new lab equipment and updated patient rooms — to better serve the people of Panola County and beyond.
Today’s ETMC Carthage
Today, we provide Panola County residents with a host of inpatient and outpatient services. We operate a 24-hour emergency department, which is designated a Level IV trauma center by the state of Texas.
We are home to the ETMC First Physicians clinic in Carthage, which offers primary care for your entire family, as well as the services of many visiting specialists.
We are active participants in training the next generation of healthcare providers. Working in conjunction with Panola College, we opened a nursing simulation lab in our monitored care unit in 2008.
We are constantly striving to improve the care we provide and to do so in a compassionate manner. Our efforts have been recognized as we were previously named to the Solucient/Thompson 100 Top Hospitals in Performance Improvement.
ETMC also provides a variety of other medical programs in Panola County, such as ETMC Home Health and ETMC EMS.
