Mary Haislet, RN, BSN
Noon, November 1, 2016
Diabetes is a disease that affects the way your body handles glucose, a type of sugar, in your blood. It is one of the most prevalent diseases in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that 29 million Americans have diabetes. Type 2 diabetes affects 90 to 95 percent of all diagnosed cases. Another 86 million have prediabetes; their blood glucose is not normal, but is not high enough to be diabetes.
At our next forum, Mary Haislet, RN, BSN, a certified diabetes educator at ETMC Tyler, will discuss the symptoms, causes and treatments for diabetes.
