Fitness Assessment

 

All new fitness members are encouraged to complete a fitness assessment upon joining. The fitness assessment includes the following health-related fitness measures:

  • Height
  • Weight
  • Resting heart rate and blood pressure
  • Body composition estimation from skinfold measurements
  • Cardiorespiratory endurance from a submaximal bicycle or treadmill test
  • Flexibility of the lower back and hamstrings from a sit-and-reach test
  • Muscular strength from a one-repetition max arm curl or gripstrength test

Assessments are conducted by a trained fitness professional utilizing the Microfit fitness assessment system. The results are discussed in detail with our members and an appropriate exercise prescription is devised to meet the member's health and fitness goals.
