UT Health Tyler Bariatric Center

Our mission is to empower our patients to improve their lives using the tool of metabolic or weight loss surgery. Since 2001, our board certified surgeons at the UT Health Tyler Bariatric Center have successfully performed over 6,000 procedures.

Weight-loss surgery (WLS) can help you regain your freedom and live a longer, healthier life . In addition to leading to weight loss, these procedures can improve and even resolve health risks such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, joint pains and more.

While it’s important to attempt non-surgical weight-loss methods first, we understand that long-term results are not likely for most people without surgery. Therefore, one should consider surgery if other methods have not been effective or if obesity has led to the development of other health problems.

Your long-term success is very important to us, so we offer comprehensive programs for each patient before and after surgery. In order to maximize your results, we will assist you in maintaining a proper diet and exercise routine long after surgery.

Types of Bariatric Surgery offered:

  • Sleeve gastrectomy
  • Gastric bypass
  • Duodenal switch
  • Lap-Band®
  • Revisions of previous bariatric operations
  • Lap-Band® management and Lap-Band® removal
  • Conversion of Lap-Band® to sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass
  • Panniculectomy (removal of excess abdominal skin following weight loss)
