ETMC Mount Vernon named one of ‘America’s Best Hospitals for Emergency Care’

ETMC Mount Vernon is one of "America's Best Hospitals for Emergency Care," according to WomenCertified, home of the Women's Choice Award.

Hospitals earning the Women's Choice emergency care award consistently rank in the top 25 percent of the 3,600 hospitals reporting on their emergency department's performance to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The seven measures CMS publicly reports relate primarily to the amount of time taken in the emergency department, such as time for diagnosis, medication and admission to the hospital, and are weighted according to the priorities of women surveyed.

Of the seven core measures reported by emergency departments to CMS, women rate "door to diagnostic time" or in other words, "door to doctor time," as the most important criteria when selecting emergency care, states WomenCertified. The least important reported measure is the total time before leaving the emergency department.

"We are honored to be listed among the nation's best for emergency care," said Jamie-Crystal Wylie, administrator of ETMC Mount Vernon. "Our emergency department team is focused on providing our patients with the best care possible, as quickly as possible. This honor is an indication that we are achieving that goal. Recognition like this motivates us to continue to improve the way we provide care."
