TRINITY, Texas - Completion of a $7.4 million expansion project at ETMC Trinity, resulting in a beautiful new 15-bed patient wing, hospital entrance, modern surgical suites and spacious cafeteria, was celebrated with a community ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony May 1 by the East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System and members of the Trinity Memorial Hospital District board of directors.
"It is a pleasure to add to the long list of accomplishments that the hospital district board and ETMC have achieved by working in partnership to benefit healthcare services in Trinity County, said Larry King, president of the Trinity Memorial Hospital District board of directors.
Previously the two entities partnered to renovate the emergency department and create a comfortable waiting area for its patients and families. They also worked to create the spacious ETMC First Physicians clinic, which cares for hundreds of patients each month.
"This is a wonderful day for the people of Trinity County, as we see another dream become a reality for ETMC Trinity," said Elmer G.Ellis, president/CEO of the ETMC Regional Healthcare System. "The beautiful and functional new additions will touch countless lives in the months and years ahead as we work to maximize the hospital's capabilities. We thank the Trinity Memorial Hospital District board members and all of the community partnerships represented in this expansion."
Patients and their families will benefit from the new construction.
"We are so pleased to offer our patients the comfort of 15 beautiful new patient rooms, each with its own private bath. The design team made certain that each room allows for efficient nursing care, while also providing a comfortable, attractive space for our patients and their families during their hospital stay,"said ETMC Trinity Administrator Brett Kirkham.
The construction project also included the creation of a new main entrance for the hospital, offering a drive-through canopy to protect visitors from the elements. Inside, a new lobby and registration areas will comfortably accommodate visitors.
An additional canopy has been added to the ambulance entrance of the emergency department.
A new surgery department has been added, featuring surgical suites, a post-anesthesia care unit, and areas for patients to be prepared for surgery. General surgeon Bob Carlson, MD, FACS, joined the hospital's medical staff late last year, and will offer a variety of surgical procedures at ETMC Trinity.
A new kitchen, specially equipped with commercial food service equipment, and a cafeteria capable of seating 50 have been added at the hospital. "We anticipate preparing hundreds of meals in the new kitchen every week, and welcoming you, our friends and neighbors, to join us for meals at our new hospital cafeteria," Kirkham said.
Additional hospital parking has also been created.
The project has been a joint effort of the ETMC system and the Trinity Memorial Hospital District.
