|ETMC Microbiology Laboratory Technician Barbara Kurz, MLT, ASCP wins Queen of Show and Overall Female with CSG Frankenstein's Nightmare, a Supreme Grand Champion Plott female she and her husband show throughout the southwest.
CROCKETT, TEXAS – In a special series, ETMC Crockett will highlight many of the 193 dedicated individuals who work diligently to provide quality healthcare to their neighbors in the community.
ETMC Crockett Microbiology Laboratory Technician Barbara Kurz, MLT, ASCP, has been employed at ETMC Crockett for four years and resides in Palestine with her husband of 14 years, Mike, and their nine dogs.
Children and grandchildrenThe couple has five children and seven grandchildren. She and her husband own Lake Creek Kennel, also in Palestine, and in their leisure time travel extensively, showing their American Kennel Club- and United Kennel Club-registered Black and Tan Coonhounds and a Plott. The couple is recognized in the dog world as successful breeders and exhibitors and they are owner/breeders of several field champions.
Barbara attends classes at Trinity Valley Community College, currently working toward a bachelor’s degree with plans to become a medical technologist.

Friendly, compassionate personality“Her friendly, compassionate and outgoing personality certainly contributes to the comfortable, but professional atmosphere of our lab,” he continued.
During her employment she has held the positions of generalist and microbiologist.
