Gov. Rick Perry announces the appointment of Patrick Wallace to the state board of the Office of Rural Community Affairs. Wallace, who has served as administrator of East Texas Medical Center Athens for 20 years, was appointed to a term expiring Feb. 1, 2011.
"ETMC is proud of Pat’s achievements at ETMC Athens as well as his representation of the healthcare industry at the state level," said Elmer G. Ellis, president/CEO of the East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System. "His appointment to the ORCA board will foster our efforts to continually improve the status of rural hospitals and the delivery of quality healthcare throughout Texas."
Wallace is a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals and the American Hospital Association. He is a past chairman of the Texas Hospital Association and former member of the executive committees to both the Office of Rural Community Affairs and the Center for Rural Health Initiatives.
Wallace serves as director of the Athens Economic Development Corporation and on committees for Trinity Valley Community College and First Baptist Church of Athens. He is also a member of the Rotary Club.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Southwestern University and a master's degree in hospital administration from Trinity University.
He and his wife, Carol, have three daughters, Jennifer Wallace, Amy Hoffman and Beth Faulk.
