CARTHAGE, Texas -Pediatrician Prakash Malviya, MD, a new ETMC First Physician, has joined the medical staff at ETMC Carthage.
Dr. Malviya holds board certification in pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics. He comes to Carthage after spending 15 years as a pediatrician in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Raised in a small town in India, he enjoys the pace of life in Carthage. "It's a great community," he said, noting he'll always be a "small-town boy".
After completing his medical education in India and working as a practicing physician there, Dr. Malviya moved to New York. There, he completed a pediatric residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. He then worked as an attending pediatrician, ER physician and hospitalist at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center.
Finally, he spent several years in pediatrics practice at Montrose Medical Center.
During his years as a pediatrician, Dr. Malviya has learned that the first step is gaining the trust of parents and their children.
"You help them feel comfortable, and that's what I'm good at," he said. "It applies to both parents and kids." Dr. Malviya's practice is located at 409 Cottage Road, in the clinic attached to ETMC Carthage, which was previously occupied by Dr. M. Farooq.
